Bookkeeping Services for Washington Businesses
Accurate books. Filed on time. Fixed monthly pricing.
Washington has no state income tax, so your state filing calendar runs on the Business and Occupation tax and the combined excise return instead. Orbit keeps your books reconciled to every filing, month after month, with a dedicated bookkeeper and reporting you can actually use.

Orbit was born out of a simple idea: organizations should have access to timely, accurate books and clear, transparent pricing. As clients grow and expand globally, our job is to keep their finances grounded with smart systems and proactive support, every step of the way.
Why Washington business owners trust Orbit with their books
Excise returns filed on schedule
The combined excise return covers B&O, retail sales tax and use tax in one filing. We prepare it on the frequency the Department of Revenue assigned you, with reconciled books standing behind every number.
Reporting you can act on
A monthly profit and loss, balance sheet and cash snapshot, delivered on a schedule you can plan around, with revenue broken out the way your B&O classifications require.
Destination-based sales tax, handled
Rates follow the delivery address in Washington. We keep your rate tables and product mapping current, and reconcile tax collected against tax remitted every month, so the return matches the ledger.
Payroll that reflects Washington's programs
Paid Family and Medical Leave premiums, WA Cares contributions, and Labor and Industries premiums calculated on hours worked by risk class, alongside W-2 and 1099 preparation at year end.
Bookkeeping in Washington, explained
What the state actually asks of you, and where the books have to line up
Washington charges no state income tax, which is often read as a light compliance load. In practice the obligations simply sit somewhere else: a gross receipts tax with classification rules, a destination-based sales tax, a separate city layer, and payroll programs that exist in few other states.
How Orbit Accountants works with your Washington Business

8. Year-end package
A clean year-end package, handed to your CPA or filed through Orbit's tax compliance team, with W-2 and 1099 preparation completed.
Why Washington companies switch to Orbit?
Before Orbit
- Behind on month-end; decisions feel blind.
- B&O classified wrong, or the excise return filed late.
- Sales tax collected at the wrong local rate.
- Hourly invoices and scope creep.
- Tax-time scramble; your CPA chases details.
- Email chaos and document chasing.

Frequently Asked Questions
Across the state. We work with businesses in Seattle, Bellevue, Redmond and Kirkland, and equally with Spokane, Tacoma, Vancouver, Everett, Olympia, Bellingham and the Yakima valley. The work is done remotely, so your location within Washington does not change the service or the price.
A dedicated bookkeeper who knows your business, with manager review on reconciliations, reporting and the year-end package. You are not routed to whoever is free that week.
Yes. The combined excise return reports B&O tax, retail sales tax and use tax in one filing, and it is included in every bookkeeping plan. We file on the frequency the Department of Revenue assigned you, and the return is reconciled to your ledger before it goes.
We split revenue in the chart of accounts by B&O classification, so retailing, wholesaling, manufacturing and service activity are separated as transactions are recorded rather than estimated at filing time. If your mix changes, the classification changes with it.
Several Washington cities levy their own B&O tax with separate thresholds and returns. We identify which apply to you during onboarding, keep the books in a state that supports those filings, and agree the scope in writing so there is no ambiguity about who files what.
Washington sources sales tax to the delivery address, not your business address. We keep rate tables and product mappings current in your system, and reconcile tax collected against tax remitted every month so discrepancies surface immediately instead of at audit.
Payroll is available as an add-on. It covers Paid Family and Medical Leave premiums, WA Cares contributions, and Labor and Industries premiums calculated on hours worked by risk class, plus W-2 and 1099 preparation at year end.
Yes. The B&O tax replaces a state income tax for most businesses, and it is charged on gross receipts rather than profit, so it is owed in loss-making years too. Depending on your activity you may also face use tax, city B&O, and Washington's capital gains excise tax on certain long-term gains.
Reconciled bank, credit card and loan accounts, a profit and loss, balance sheet and cash snapshot, A/R and A/P aging, use tax accrued, and your excise filing prepared and reconciled to the books.
We target a close within 20 days of month-end, and most files land sooner once we are settled into your cadence.
Fixed monthly pricing with a defined scope. You are not billed for questions, and the fee does not move because a month was busy.
Most files are live within five business days. We connect your bank and credit card feeds, bring across the prior year's balances, agree your monthly reporting pack, and set up Orbit Portal access.
Catch-up is quoted separately from the monthly fee, based on how many months are outstanding and the state they are in. You see the number before any work starts, and once you are current the monthly cadence takes over.
